Mount de Sales Academy was founded in 1852 by Visitation nuns and has been administered since 1985 by the Dominican sisters of the St. Cecilia Congregation. The academy was the first Catholic girls' school in Baltimore County to offer education to young women of all denominations and its chapel is the oldest active Catholic house of worship in Baltimore County.
Mount de Sales Academy is located in Catonsville in Baltimore County and easily is accessible from the Baltimore Beltway (I-695) and I-95.

- Advanced placement courses are offered in English, U.S. History, European History, American Government, Calculus, Latin, French, Spanish, Biology, Psychology, and Chemistry.
- Fully automated 20,000 volume Padre Pio Library, including multiple computer terminals with CD-ROM resources and access to the Internet.
- Fully equipped computer labs.
- Modern Ramona Carrigan Science Center.
- Students are required to complete 26 credits for graduation as follows: 4 religion; 4 English; 3 history; 3 math; 3 lab sciences; 2 Modern foreign language; 1 Physical Education; 1 fine arts; and 5 electives.
CO-CURRICULAR
- Mount de Sales offers opportunities for spiritual growth through daily Mass and Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, retreats, First Friday Mass, monthly sacrament of Reconciliation, other special liturgies, and the Sodality of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
- Students must fulfill community service hour requirements each semester.
- Active student clubs include a chapter of the National Honor Society and a Student Council affiliated with the Maryland Association of Student Councils.
- Constance & Samuel Pistorio Sports Complex.
- Sports teams include soccer, cross country, volleyball, indoor track, basketball, lacrosse, softball, outdoor track, swimming, field hockey, and cheerleading.
- Traditional activities include foreign travel, field trips, dances, Big Sister activities, Spring and Fall Plays, Junior Ring Ceremony, Junior/Senior Prom, Senior Luncheon, Christmas Assembly, Spirit Day, and Fall Festival.
