CONSTANCE AND SAMUEL PISTORIO SPORTS COMPLEX
The academy's sports complex was dedicated on October 11, 1998 by William Cardinal Keeler. This beautiful building is one of the finest secondary school athletic facilities in Maryland.

The facility's exterior is modeled after the academy's historic buildings and is situated across an open air piazza from the main building and the recently renovated Infirmary. The piazza's focal point is a central garden bed featuring a life-size bronze statue of St. Joseph the Worker, crafted by Baltimore sculptor Joseph Vogelsang.

The building's atrium entrance features built-in trophy cases and the seal of the Visitation Order rendered in colored granite in the lobby floor. Other features include home and visitor locker rooms, a fully-equipped health education classroom, several athletic offices, a ticket office, rest room facilities, and a concession stand with full kitchen.

The gymnasium seats 500 people in handicapped-accessible bleachers. The basketball court features six backboards and bears the academy name and the Sailors' anchor emblem. It also can accommodate a central volleyball court or two adjacent volleyball courts that can be separated by lowering a divider.

The glass-enclosed fitness center at the far end of the gymnasium features life-cycles, stair masters, free weights, dumb bells, and a 12-station universal device for upper and lower body work-outs.

Other highlights include a powerful sound system and two beautiful stained glass windows created by Baltimore artist Cheryl Brant. The windows feature the academy logo of the Madonna and Child and the shield of the Dominican Order.
